“This Book Belongs in Every Senior Center”: A Caregiver’s Powerful Review of The Doctor-Approved Cannabis Handbook

A Review That Hit Home

This week, I watched something that stopped me in my tracks.

A caregiver-turned-cannabis-coach and her husband posted a full video review of The Doctor-Approved Cannabis Handbook—and I found myself smiling, nodding, and even tearing up as they spoke. You can watch it here.

They didn’t just read the book. They lived it.

They spoke about their father, living with Alzheimer’s in their home. About seizures, managed with cannabinoids. About cancer. About rare brain disease. And through it all, they spoke with clarity, compassion, and hard-won insight—highlighting chapter after chapter that helped them understand not just what cannabis could do, but how to use it safely, meaningfully, and with dignity.

A few quotes stuck with me:

“It’s not just the least bad option—it’s a great option.”

“This book belongs on the shelf of every senior center, every oncology office, and every caregiver’s home.”

“Cannabis may help preserve function in the basal ganglia, promote neurogenesis, and protect the brain from oxidative stress.”

They even pulled passages on cancer cell signaling, dose ranges, flavonoids, and terpenes—breaking it down with the same curiosity and care I hoped to encourage when I wrote the book.

I was especially moved by how they validated the dosing guidance: not because it’s rigid or formulaic, but because it asks people to listen—to their bodies, their instincts, their goals. That kind of agency is too often stripped away in medical care. I wanted to give it back.

I wrote The Doctor-Approved Cannabis Handbook to be a companion: evidence-based, yes, but also patient-centered, hopeful, and human. I’m honored that it’s serving that role.

To Shella and Dave—thank you. For your advocacy, for your transparency, and for showing others what compassionate, science-informed cannabis care can look like. You’ve reminded me why this work matters!
